The New York Times bestselling author and Heisman Trophy winner shares a vision for young Christians still forming their identity and finding their God-given purpose—even when life doesn’t go as planned.
Beloved sports icon Tim Tebow was a college football champion and a first-round draft pick—but then he was traded and eventually cut. In Shaken Young Reader’s Edition, he reveals how he navigated both triumph and disappointment and explains how neither the highs nor the lows of his life define him. Ultimately, only God can do that.
The same is true for every one of us. God has given us a unique set of talents and experiences in order to fulfill our divine purpose. Whether He intends for us to influence those close to us, like our friends and our family, or even the entire world, there are no limits to the great things God can accomplish through us when we let Him determine who we are. But we may miss God’s incredible plan for our lives if we’re so busy trying to be just like everyone else—by blending in with the crowd or refusing to stand up for what is right.
Jesus was anything but normal!
Nothing is more empowering, more life-giving, and more exciting than having a strong identity. Jesus knows this, and He wants you to know it as well. When we are willing to let God define who we are, He will take what we have to offer and multiply it in ways and for purposes that we cannot imagine!

Heisman Trophy winner and NFL quarterback Tebow pens a guide aimed at helping young people find a better way to live, adapted from his book for adults of the same name. Using examples from his own tumultuous career, Tebow encourages readers to stay focused on their dreams, fight negativity, and stand up for what is right. And while the resource is focused on Christian principles, the lessons concentrating on hard work, determination, and kindness hold universal appeal. Tebow additionally draws upon examples of other young people who have faced adversity--cancer, limb amputation, and organ failure--as cases of how even in the most desperate situations, one can refuse to fall into self-pity, anger, and depression. Tebow's easy, plainspoken style will give young fans the feeling that he is speaking directly to them. Biblical examples range from the steadfast endurance of Job to the selfless courage of David facing Goliath. Other stories include references to Michael Jordan and Albert Einstein. Tebow's candid talk of his struggles with dyslexia and anger further humanize him. Notes include references for more reading and Biblical verses. While this resource will largely appeal to the young football fan, the inspirational stories will resonate with anyone willing to approach it with an open mind. A Christian perspective with a wider appeal. (Nonfiction. 10-16)

"God's got it" is the life-affirming slogan of Heisman Trophyâwinner Tebow, the football player remembered by many for his impassioned speeches, hybrid talents, and commitment to his faithâhe once stirred up controversy by writing Bible verses in his eye black. "Have faith," "trust God," "it's not so much who you are as whose you are," and "God has a plan" are among the encouragements that run through every chapter of this uplifting memoir. There's a lot to like here, including personal details that football fans and Christians alike will savor, as well as inspiring stories of ill and disabled children whom Tebow has helped through missions and his own charitable foundation. Critics might say it's easy for such a famous and successful person to have powerful confidence, but Tebow reminds readers that no one is immune to disappointment and doubt, and that success can bring its own burdens. Some may take issue with Tebow's simplistic affirmations of faith (including seeing God in coincidence); others will see them as the book's greatest strength. All readers will be won over by Tebow's dedication and perseverance, and admire him for staying true to service-oriented Christianity through a quite unconventional life.

The man whose name became a verb ("Tebowing") for kneeling during games encourages young people to open their lives to God in this adaptation of his adult book. Former NFL quarterback Tebow highlights how Christian principles shape his behavior and help him through highs and lows, often using Bible passages to underscore his points in the candid and conversational if unsubtle prose.
